What Tawaasal Does for Your School
Tawaasal covers the everyday work of a school: attendance, teaching, communication with parents, pupil care and the records a school must keep. Staff use it in the browser, and parents, students and staff also have a mobile app.
This page is a map: what is in Tawaasal and which guide covers it. For plans and pricing, see tawaasal.com. Once your school is set up, start with the School Admin guide.
The day to day
Attendance. Teachers take the register for each class on a phone or computer. Parents are told about absences, and parents ask for leave in the app instead of writing a note. Schools in England can keep the morning and afternoon register with the DfE codes. See Attendance.
Teaching and learning. Teachers set homework with attachments and due dates, students hand it in online, and grades build into report cards. See Classes and subjects.
Timetable and calendar. Build the timetable, see clashes before they happen, and keep terms, holidays and school events in one calendar. See Schedule and timetable.
Talking to parents
- Announcements and messages, to the whole school, a year group or one family, delivered in the app and by email.
- Parents' evening booking: parents choose their own slots with each teacher. See Parents' evening.
- Trips and events with consent collected online. See Events and trips.
- Fees: invoices, reminders and online payment. See Finance.
Every notification reaches each parent in their own language. Tawaasal is available in eleven languages, including Arabic, Urdu and Persian, which read right to left.
Caring for pupils
- Safeguarding: staff raise a child protection concern, and only the safeguarding team can see and manage it through to closure. See Safeguarding.
- Wellbeing: each student's medical, dietary and special educational needs in one place, so the staff who care for them know. See Wellbeing.
- Merit and rewards to recognise good work and behaviour. See Merit and rewards.
Records the school must keep
- Staff training: who is in date for safeguarding and health and safety training, with renewal reminders. See Staff training.
- Statutory returns and the admission register for schools in England. See Statutory returns.
- Data protection: retention periods, subject access requests and data exports. See Data management.
Your school's data
- Bring it in. Import staff, students and parents from spreadsheets when you set up, using the templates provided. See Data management.
- Take it out. Export students, staff, attendance, grades, finance and more whenever you like.
- Look after it. Retention periods for each kind of record, subject access requests handled in the app, and safeguarding concerns and medical details stored encrypted.
- Control who sees what. Every role has its own permissions, which the school can adjust. People can sign in with Google or Microsoft and protect their account with two-step sign-in. See Settings.
Where your data is hosted, how it is protected and the agreement we sign with schools are on tawaasal.com: see Security and the Data Processing Agreement.
Ask your AI assistant
Staff and parents can connect ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to Tawaasal and ask about the school in everyday language: "Who was absent in 9B yesterday?" The assistant sees exactly what that person sees in Tawaasal, never more, and it stays off until a school admin switches it on. See Connect an AI assistant and AI connectors.
On the phone
Parents, students and staff have the Tawaasal app for iPhone and Android, with notifications for what matters to them. See Mobile app.
Try the demo
The live demo at tawaasal.com/en/demo lets you sign in to a sample school as a school admin, a teacher, a student or a parent, and use it exactly as they would.
Everyone trying Tawaasal uses the same demo school, and it is reset every day. Everyone in it is made up. Please don't type real names or personal details into it.
